How Do You Read a Rainbow of Books?

Reading a rainbow of books is all about choosing a lot of different types books. This is important for young readers for two main reasons: (1) Different types of books usually have specific ways they are organized and (2) good readers use different sets of strategies for different types of books. When you get used to the organization and types of strategies you need for one type of book your brain knows what to expect, which makes it is easier for you to understand books of that type. Unfortunately, this means getting practice with only one type of book is not enough to make you a good reader of all the different types of books. So why not start today? Red: Informational Nonfiction

Books you read to learn about a topic or how to do something

Orange: True Stories and Biographies

Books you read to learn about an event that really happened or about a person's life

Yellow: Other Nonfiction

Artistic pieces of writing that give you a feeling or help you use your senses
