How Do You Read a Rainbow of Books?

Reading a rainbow of books is all about choosing a lot of different types books. This is important for young readers for two main reasons: (1) Different types of books usually have specific ways they are organized and (2) good readers use different sets of strategies for different types of books. When you get used to the organization and types of strategies you need for one type of book your brain knows what to expect, which makes it is easier for you to understand books of that type. Books you read to learn about an event that really happened or about a person's life

Yellow: Other Nonfiction

Books you read to learn about a topic, which are either told as a story or have more than one kind of writing in them

Green: Poetry

Artistic pieces of writing that give you a feeling or help you use your senses

Blue: Fiction Picture Books

Fantasy or realistic stories you read to enjoy
